Joanna Tschurtschenthaler, East Hampton HS - 1st Place

Meghan Davis, Riverhead HS - 2nd Place

L to R: Justin Friedman, Southampton HS - 3rd Place (Tie)
Carl Kendrick, Riverhead HS - 3rd Place (Tie)
Heather Rause, Riverhead HS - 3rd Place (Tie)

L to R: Jennifer Friebly (Hampton Jitney), Carl Kendrick (Riverhead HS),
Claudia Pilato (Bridgehampton Bank), Heather Rause (Riverhead HS),
Meghan Davis (Riverhead HS), Joanna Tschurtschenthaler (East Hampton HS),
Justin Friedman (Riverhead HS), Skip Norsic (Emil Norsic & Son)

Beautifully drawn, extensively researched, and offering solutions, the judges felt that Joanna Tschertschenthaler's entry (above) was deserving of first place even though it will have to be edited in order to fit into a 30 second PSA. Below are three representative frames from Joanna's storyboard. Joanna is a senior at East Hampton HS. She plans to study architecture in college.

Riverhead High School's Meghan Davis, turned in this entry which earned her the second place prize. Meghan's piece was well thought out, carefully executed, informative and challenges the viewer to make choices about the environment. She will also be invited to work on the production of her PSA.

Also from Riverhead High School, this entry was created by Heather Rause. It addresses the growing problem of discarded containers winding up in landfills. A clever script earned Heather a third place tie with Justin Friedman of Southampton. Both Heather and Meghan (2nd Place) are from Mr. Jester's classes which turned in 11 entries, the most of any school.

Southampton HS racks up a tie for third place with this entry by Justin Friedman. Justin's entry deals with individuals having to realize that they must be good stewards of their environment.
